Private Sector Assessments & PPP’s Working through various development partner programs such as USAID PSP-One, USAID SHOPS and IFC/WB, IHA has participated in ground-breaking private health sector assessments in Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania and Ethiopia, among other countries. These assessments have provided valuable data and information on the scope and the role of the private health sector and provided a basis for private sector engagement and partnership with governments and development partners. The private sector assessments were followed by a series of structured consultative meetings that led to the setting up of formal PPP dialogue and engagement forums. This engagement was mainly aimed at embedding genuine private and public partnerships into policy and legal frameworks to achieve national health goals. IHA was subsequently involved in assisting MOH’s in Malawi, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania to build their internal capacity to steward and partner with the private sector and various PPP policies and strategies were developed and disseminated.
