Health Policy and Regulatory Reforms IHA has provided technical assistance to governments in the greater Eastern and Southern African region in health policy and regulatory reforms. This includes analysis and development of new policy and strategic options for thematic areas in health such as promoting systems thinking in health, clarifying the role of the private sector and how to engage with, regulate and partner with the private health sector. In Kenya for example the current constitution and a devolved system of governance required a review of various polices and laws relating to health. IHA provided inputs in the development of the Kenya Health Policy Framework and the Health Bill. In Malawi we assisted the MOH to develop a PPP Strategy for health while in Tanzania and Kenya we have been intimately involved in the promotion of PPP frameworks, institutions and dialogue forums. In Ethiopia we carried out the private sector component of their overall health system assessment and proposed policy options for better engagement of the private health sector.
